Junior Systems Administrator

Our client is currently upgrading their existing computer system to a cloud-based environment. To facilitate the transfer from one system to another, our client is seeking to engage a Junior Systems Administrator who has either recently finished a TAFE Diploma course or a University degree and who may have hadup to 6 months Systems Administration experience, even on a part time basis.
 

You are required to provide:
• High quality technical support for others in a small, cohesive team (Business Analysts, Project Manager etc.) 
• Maintain knowledge of the latest system and the former system
• Add value to the organisation by undertaking accurate and fast work
• Ability to think logically and come up with satisfactory solutions
• Undertake liaison and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders in order to resolve any issues
  

It is expected that you will be able to:
• Cope with competing priorities
• Work independently, but as part of a team
• Not be afraid to ask for assistance if required
• Professionally presented and well spoke
• Have high level literacy, both written and verbal

 
Technical specifications
 
It is expected that you will have:
• Knowledge of Windows-based systems
• Experience with PowerShell and Puppet
• Experience with virtualisations technologies (KVM, VMWare, Open VZ or Xen)
• Experience with hosted environments and remotely collocated systems 
• Experience testing and automating deployment of infrastructure with Puppet
• Ability to carry out monitoring and performance analysis 
• Not essential but ideally some experience running large scale web applications on modern platforms (Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, Django etc.)
• Some understanding of Java specific performance issues and their resolution will be highly regarded
