Branch Manager/BDM - Broking (Melb)

Our client is a well-established Australian insurance broker, which offers an outstanding opportunity to start up their Melbourne operations. A proven ability to sell is essential as is superior networking skills and experience.

Initially, this role will be home based and as the business grows it will move to an office with other staff.

Our client is looking for someone who is a passionate broker with strong technical knowledge who is determined, highly motivated to succeed and has proven sales ability. You won’t need to become too involved in ‘the paperwork’ as back-end operations can be completed in one of our client’s other offices. Our client requires you to concentrate on building up a portfolio of profitable accounts.

It is expected that you will be confident and experienced with all types of general insurance coverages including, but not limited to business pack, liability, commercial insurances, contract works, PI, ISR, and more. This is an opportunity to showcase your excellent high-level broking skills, strong technical knowledge and record breaking sales capabilities.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Grow the portfolio
  • Proactively manage client relationships
  • Manage own client portfolio
  • Oversee internal account and office management
  • Maintain sound internal and external relationships
  • Maximise account profitability
  • Liaise closely with the MD in connection with business growth

You must be able to demonstrate:

  • More than 5 years broking experience
  • Diploma of Broking is essential as is Tier 1 (Broking)
  • Sound technical and professional knowledge and application of broking principles
  • Insurance products and services across of general insurance products
  • Ability to form enduring relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Professional presentation
  • High-level of motivation; you will need to create a client base
  • High-level computer literacy particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • Winbeat/Sunrise experience highly regarded
